White Lake Education Enhancement and Transformation (“WLEET”) founded in 2002 as a voluntary charitable organization in support of Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) in Tanzania. WLEET was registered as a non-governmental organization in 2018 with the aim of providing and promoting equal and quality education as well as safeguarding the social welfare of children, especially the most vulnerable children in the United Republic of Tanzania.
WLEET believes that accessible equal and quality education is an essential social protection to children, which curtails poverty and fosters sustainable economic development in Tanzania.
We acknowledge and recommend the great efforts of the government of the United Republic of Tanzania, on the execution of free education policy from primary to secondary education level.
Nonetheless, we turn no blind eye to the immeasurable existing gaps that Tanzanian children are still facing in regards to accessible, equal and quality education. We therefore, exist to join hands with the government and all stakeholders, in the effort to bridge the gaps, respond to demands and applying strategic approaches aimed at transformative change in Tanzanian children’s social protection through the enforcement of their right to education. For this reason, WLEET entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government of URT through its three ministries; namely Community Development, Gender, women and special groups (MoCDGC), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) and President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government Tanzania (PO-RALG) and ongoing process with the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports (MICAS).
